Symptomatic Relief for Thrush with Canesten Pessary
Canesten Pessary 200mg contains Clotrimazole which promotes pH balance, reduces itching, and provides cooling relief.
What Causes thrush?
Thrush is caused when there is disruption in the balance between bacteria and yeasts which naturally live within the vagina. This can be caused by a variety of factors like:
- Medicines and antibiotics
- The trauma of sexual activity
- Tampons
- Stress
- Perfumed soap, shower gels, or bubble baths
- Menstruation
- Wearing tight clothing
- Pregnancy
Preventing Thrush with Canesten Pessary
Canesten Vaginal Pessary Clotrimazole 200mg can be used to prevent the growth of fungus and reduce itchy, burning sensations. To prevent thrush from recurring:
- Avoid tight, synthetic clothing
- Avoid perfumed soaps, gels, bubble baths, vaginal deodorants and douches
- Change tampons or pads regularly when on your period
Warnings / Side effects
Caution before using Canesten 200mg Pessary Clotrimazole:
If symptoms persist for more than 7 days, see your doctor. Do not use if you are pregnant, trying for a baby or breast feeding. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any medicine other than the contraceptive pill and if you are aged under 16 or over 60.
. Possible side effects Like all medicines, Canesten 100 mg Pessary can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. As with all medicines, some people may be allergic to the pessary. If you are allergic, a reaction will occur soon after you have used the medicine. If you experience an allergic reaction or the redness, burning, pain, itching or swelling get worse, stop using this product and tell your doctor straight away or contact the Accident and Emergency Department of your nearest hospital. Signs of an allergic reaction may include: • Rash. • Swallowing or breathing problems. • Swelling of your lips, face, throat or tongue. • Weakness, feeling dizzy or faint. • Nausea. After you use the Canesten 100mg Pessary you might experience: • Itching, rash, swelling, redness, discomfort, burning, irritation, vaginal peeling or bleeding. • Pain in the abdomen or pelvic area.

Usage / Instructions
How to use Canesten 200mg Pessary Clotrimazole:
For intravaginal application. One pessary should be inserted into the vagina at night for three consecutive days using the applicator.
Ingredients
Canesten 200mg Pessary Clotrimazole contains:
Clotrimazole Ph.Eur. 200mg. It also contains calcium lactate pentahydrate, maize starch, crospovidone, colloidal anhydrous silica, lactic acid, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, hypromellose and microcrystalline cellulose.
